MARCH READSApril 04, 2017
Ok, I read nothing the entire month of February. I mean, I kind of read this book, but not really. I felt really crappy about it, but my excuse is pregnancy, planning Penny's 3rd birthday party, and the shortest month out of the year. I'm sticking to that. In March, I finished, In a dark, dark wood by Ruth Ware, making this fifth book of my yearly goal I set. I'm not going to lie, I feel really crappy about only reading one book for the entire month of March. Bring it on April!
What did I think? I struggled with this book. The plot was very reminiscent of an episode of Pretty Little Liars. I don't know about you, but I was one of those totally roped into the show for like the first two seasons, and then they just lost me. I had the same feelings toward this book about halfway through. I even said out loud to myself "seriously, this is so predictable." In a nutshell, it was an overly elaborate plan to murder someone. There were more than a few eye roll moments on my end and overall, the book felt very childish to me even though the characters were supposed to be my age.
Should you read it? To totally confuse you with my above ramblings, the book wasn't terrible. There were a few moments I would consider nail biters, but if you're a slow reader, I'd say pass on this one.
What's next? I'm finding in this reading journey, I'm most happy when I'm reading a series of novels that all tells one big story. For my next few books, I think this is the direction I'm going to go.
