SWEATING LIKE A HALL OF FAMERAugust 01, 2016
Hello August, it's seriously insane to think that in just two months, I'll be tying the knot! Stuff has been crazy around here and I can't wait to share all the details of just how crazy it actually is. In a few weeks, hopefully I'll be able to give a nice, big run down.
How was your weekend? If it was anything like ours, it was hot and summery, perhaps with a thunderstorm or two. That sums our weekend up a bit, except that it's Hall of Fame week here in the Hall of Fame city! If you're new, I live in Canton, Ohio, home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and if you're a football person (which ironically I'm not) that phrase just means something. I could care less about football, but that doesn't mean I don't take advantage of all the local, Hall of Fame festivities!
Friday... Every year, there's a balloon lift the weekend before the Hall of Fame game and induction ceremony. It's held at a college campus and always full of good people and spirits. We were a little bummed to see dark skies creeping closer and closer as we danced to the local entertainment. Of course, we had too much faith in Mother nature and wound up a mile from the car, drenched. At least we got a good laugh out of the evening.
The balloon lift festivities continued through the weekend, though the actual balloons never left the ground. We wrapped up our hectic Saturday enjoying the Hall of Fame fireworks from the mall parking lot.
Sunday... I mean, this filter pretty much sums up our Sunday. We did visit Joshua's dad and stepmom like we typically do on Sundays, but headed home for some laziness and appropriate Harry Potter watching. Pen even took a 3 hour afternoon nap and I too let myself pass out for a good 40 minutes. I NEVER nap, but man, I'm just over this heat! I guess I should add our 16 year old AC unit, we thought we fixed by cleaning last weekend, took it's last final dump. Of course living in an apartment complex, you'd think the maintenance team would be prepared to deal with events like this? Wrong-o. We are being told there's no time line as to when we will be getting AC, so two days, two weeks?! It's one of those connected to the wall type things because the windows all crank open. You cannot put an AC unit, or a fan in the window. We're slightly upset about this, more so because we have a toddler.
I'm totally aware there are way worse things. Remember when we didn't have water over Christmas? I mean, I'll take three fans running over not being able to go to the bathroom, but man this is getting frustrating. When I'm about to flip on someone, I just look at her little face and accept that things just are what they are. This mama has to keep it together.
