THE MAKEUP MIX UP: CHRISTMAS MOVIE

December 03, 2015

Being totally honest, this prompt stumped me. Sure I could have gone the Grinch route. Wore some killer green on my eyes and called it a day, but I know that all my lovely shades of green would come in handy in future December Makeup Mix Up prompts. As of last night, I was still stumped. We had some friends over and I expressed my frustrations and lack of creativeness. A friend suggested the movie, Jack Frost, but that movie is water works galore for me. Even thinking about that movie made me sad. I did like the whole icy blue eye look idea though, and it just so happens that Abc family, ah-hem, Freeform (what the actual hell) has been airing The Polar Express. Sure I still cry at this movie too, but more warm fuzzy feels rather than death and devastation. I mean, something about that just isnt Christmasy to me. Yes? Plus the Polar Express is a total classic.

Go check out and see what Jaelan & Miranda have come up with.

Today's FOTD: Christmas Movie; The Polar Express

Eyes: Fergie Take on the Day eye primer , MakeupGeek Creme Brule , MakeupGeek Cupcake , MAC's Birds and Berries (super super old collection, the only blue I had) , Lightest highlight shade from Carli Bybel Palette for inner corner , Darkest brown in Carli Bybel Palette to darken up crease, Wet n Wild Mega Liner in Black , L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara , Salon Perfect 110 Lashes

Today's face has a lot of new products on it. As many of you know, I'm not a blush person. I feel as if my already red face just can't pull it off. However, when I saw Milani's Romantic Rose, I had to have it. It's a perfect mauve and actually looks really subtle.

I've been testing out a new to me foundation this week and have extremely mixed feelings. Unless you live under a rock, the Too Faced Born this way foundation has been shoved in your face since it's launch date. With so many biased reviews out there, I wasn't really sure what to think. I was color matched at my local Ulta and had high hopes. As I wear the foundation, I notice on camera whether it be my phone or digital, it pulls a very yellow color. In real life it doesn't, but this isn't something I'd want to wear when I know we'd be taking photos. Which for my family, is always. I like a yellow based foundation. I find that it cancels out some of my tomato face I have going on, but this is border line kidney failure. I also find that the application with a brush is dreadful. I've tried three brushes: flat top kabuki, stipple, and Real Techniques Expert face brush (which is my favorite brush for foundation). With a damp sponge, I find the finish is much lighter and more natural. However, I feel as if it wears nearly the same as L'oreal's True Match Lumi. A foundation I really like, but breaks me out. I do love that I haven't had a single breakout from the Born this way foundation. For someone who suffers with acne prone skin, testing foundations can be a nightmare. I think this foundation has a lot of pros and cons to it. I was looking for something to wear for the holidays when a lot of photos would be taken. Unfortunately, this stuff is going back.

What's your favorite Christmas movie?
