THE MAKEUP MIX UP: CRANBERRY SAUCE

November 05, 2015

      I have a shocking confession, I'm not fond of anything cranberry flavored. Juice maybe, but I'm pretty sure it's that cocktail nonsense that's all sugary badness. When it comes to loving cranberries, I'm on the outs. I'm not one to reach for the cranberry sauce come the holidays, in fact, it sort of repulses me. But hey, it's pretty right?

      Starting the month of November off right with a fresh list of Makeup Mix Up prompts by the lovely ladies behind Miranda Writes and Making Mrs. M. Today's Cranberry Sauce look was a bit tough for me. Sure reaching for some cranberry colored goodies was a no brainer, but I wanted to do something well, different.

Pardon my lighting. After all, I am just a gal snapping photos of herself in her car before work. (;

Today's FOTD: Champagne, Cranberry Sauce

Eyes: Fergie Take on the day Eye primer , L'Oreal Infallible Shadow in Eternal Sunshine , MAC's De-vil from the Venomous Villain's Collection (I can't believe I STILL have this, but it's still crazy, beautifully pigmented) , Darkest Mauve Shade in the Carli Bybel Palette as well as lightest shade on brow bone , Wet n' Wild Mega Liner in Black , L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara , Kiss Looks so natural lashes , NYX Automatic Eyebrow Pencil in Taupe

Face: Japonesque Velvet Touch Primer , Boots No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation in Cool Vanilla , L'Oreal Visible Lift Blur Concealer in Fair , Sephora Blush in Traquil as a contour

Lips: Maybelline Color Blur in Plum Please

      I love the way gold and cranberry look together. To me, the color combo reminds me of Christmas decorations and the berry and champagne holiday colors. Those crisp colors that are starting to pop up everywhere. I didn't want to go full on cranberry in the eyes.

      Fun fact: Joshua picked my lippie. He's very much involved in my blog process and I love running my ideas past him first. So of course when I had every berry tone in my collection swatched on my hand, I knew he'd be the best to ask. He chose Plum please, and I'm glad he did. I really enjoy this shade. I know these have had a lot of positive and negative feedback and I only own one shade. I'm not the ideal reviewer, but to me, these are lovely. It goes on buttery smooth, pigmented, and lasts for hours! Certainly better than most drugstore attempts at the matte lip trend. However, the little smudger thing I just don't understand. Why Maybelline thought the post Koolaide mouth was in, is disturbing. Just wear this as a lipstick and you'll be golden pony boy.
