THE MAKEUP MIX UP: MATTE ABOUT YOUOctober 01, 2015
Satin finishes? Skip. Glossy lip? Skip. Highlight? Skip. Today, it's all about the Matte. Being someone with oily/ combo skin, I'm all about that matte life. Today's Makeup Mix up (click to see October prompts) hosted by Jaelan and Miranda, highlights, or I should say mattifies, some of the best matte products on the market!
Fall is the perfect excuse to bust out some of those deep dark colors you've been suppressing all year. My pale skinned self looks like I was punched in the eye if I rock a smokey eye before Labor Day, yet somehow, during the fall less people ask me if I'm a member of fight club.
My favorite go to smokey eye literally consists of three colors. A nice, true matte black. A plum to pink transition, and a brown definer shade. This is a look I can bust out in just a few minutes and one of the only smokey eyes I've ever mastered.
FOTD: Matte About You
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette - Blackout & Tease, Makeup Geek Cupcake , Wet n' Wild Megaliner in Black , L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara , Vegas Nay False Lashes in Classic Charm
Face: Japonesque Color Velvet Touch Primer , Estee Lauder Double Wear (still testing this), Maybelline Fit Me Concealer , Sephora Tranquil Blush , Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder , Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Setting Spray (doesn't set dewy)
Lips: Milani Amore Liquid Matte Lip Creme in Lust
Dusting off the old Naked 2 palette was fun. For some, this is a hit or miss palette. If only the Naked Basics were out back when I purchased this. There's a lot of excellent shades, but nothing amazing and out of this world. When it's old or used up I won't run out to buy another one.
Cupcake was a shade I initially regretted buying. In the past, when I have done this go to smokey eye, I've used Wet n' Wild's Cheeky. Since today's needed to follow the Matte Rule, I tried Cupcake, and boy I'm glad I did! I take back all my prior feelings toward Cupcake!
I'm not a falsies type of gal. In fact, you can typically only see me with them on around Halloween. When I saw these Vegas Nay lashes at Target, I knew I had to snag them. For under $6 you get lashes and adhesive! That's a pretty awesome deal AND they are reusable. I'm not saying you are going to start seeing me wear lashes all the time, but I can't promise these wont make another appearance.
