THE MAKEUP MIX UP: THOSE SUMMER NIGHTS

August 27, 2015

Am I alone when I say I read this week's Makeup Mix up prompt and immediately held that high note from Summer Nights? No? Just me....

Shout out to the girls Jaelan & Miranda for creating this super fun makeup challenge!

I can think back to the first time I watched Grease. Sandy was the O.G girl next store. I mean she had it all, the looks, the tan, she was blonde. What more could she want? Next thing you know she's showing up to graduation in a leather cat suit, red pumps, puffin away on a cigarette. I still remember how cool I thought she was with her famous line "Tell me about it, stud." Grease, the epic love tale about changing who you are for love. How do you think this movie would play over in today's overly emotional society?

Seriously NO hate on Grease. It's a classic I'll watch again and again and nothing could ever stop me from belting out Hopelessly Devoted to you in the car. But isn't the entire premise of the movie hysterical from a millennial stand point?

Now that I'm so far off topic it's disgusting, let us continue to today's Makeup Mix Up prompt. Will you be shocked if I told you I chose to create a bad girl Sandy inspired look?

I'm just like Sandra Dee, except it's next to impossible for me to make a bad girl face. If one were to look at my memory card you'd die of laughter at all my attempts. The smolder and pout face aren't my thing. Instead, you are left with this not so bad girl expression. But let's move on....

Really, do you know many times this took to get just right? Subtle smokey eye, red lip, you'd think it'd be a piece of cake. Oh no, not when you're trying to look like an Australian bad girl about to lose her virginity in the clouds.  Things get much more complex.

I chose this photo of Miss Sandy, courtesy of Pinterest and got to brainstorming. I'm not going to lie I was a little shocked when I noticed she had double winged liner on. My young self was like THAT was a thing back then?! Back then, ha, my Grandma would smack me right now.

I figured I'd go out with a bang. This was a fun way to tackle a classic love story. Don't you wonder if Sandy and Danny lived happily ever after?

Products used:

      L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte - 102

Maybelline Fit Me concealer - Sand

Nars Orgasm - Dusted over the Maybelline Master glaze stick in plums up . I own two of these and I do NOT recommend them for girls with oily prone skin. This wear was my last for sure.

      Wet n' Wild contouring palette

Wet n' Wild Fergie Take on the day primer

Wet n' Wild Comfort Zone palette - left side

Wet n' Wild Mega Liner - Dark brown

      L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara

L'Oreal Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick - Rambling rose. I was a little bummed these photos made this color more orange based red than it is in real life. Rambling rose is such a lovely true red.

My sincerest apologies for these yellow photos. Ohio is being it's trusty self and reminding us mother nature is still very much in charge when it comes to the weather. We've had three chilly, over cast days and I looked grey in my natural light photos. GREY. Personally yellow looks a little more human and a little less Walker-like. Fingers crossed we get some sun shine soon!
