Celebrating time well spent....

May 08, 2015

Once upon a time, four years ago, I went to work. I know, exciting way to begin a story right?  It was a normal September day and I remember it like it was yesterday. Working at Sheetz gas station was one of my favorite part time jobs. If you don't live on the east coast, you have no idea what I'm talking about, but this place was and still is bomb.

Horrible eye brow habits; Pre-discovery of matte makeup

I was 21 and was also attending college. Sheetz was awesome about working around my schedule and I couldn't have loved the company more. That particular day we had a new hire, which wasn't unusual by any means. Employees were required to wear a uniform: khakis or black pants, with a Sheetz logo tee and hat. We also had to wear two buttons, one with our name on it, and the other, a promotional item button. These buttons had to be worn on specific sides to make everyone uniform. As I was going about my shift the new hire walked in with his buttons on the wrong sides. I walked up to him, removed the buttons from his shirt and wrote left and right on the backs in Sharpie marker before handing them back to him. If you know me, I'm far from an aggressive person, so what compelled me to do that is still a mystery to this day. He was a bit in shock, and a tad shy. Little did I know that awkwardly ripping the buttons from Joshua's shirt was the best decision I'd ever made.

The most awkward photo of my arm; Me after losing weight and Joshua when he thought chin straps were a thing

At the time I was "in a relationship," if you could even call it that. I felt more like a baby sitter, and the "relationship," was on the outs. When it ended the following January, Joshua was quickly by my side to pick up the pieces. He made me milkshakes, cleaned the windows of my car, bought me an orchid. He chased me for quite some time before I actually let him in, and I can't imagine my life without him.

When we decided it'd be fun to tease everyone with a gender reveal photo shoot; Our last Christmas as just the two of us

Three years full of love, understanding, and most of all, friendship has made us into the people we are today. I couldn't be more thankful for him, and for fate bringing him to me when I needed him. The moment I become his wife couldn't happen fast enough and I look forward to expanding our love and family in the coming years.

Our first few minutes as a family; First time at church as a family

A big thank you to everyone who reads this family lifestyle blog, and for sticking by us as we try to figure out what we are doing in this crazy world. I love sharing my family with all of you and sharing the journey that is parenthood. Without Joshua, this blog probably wouldn't exist and today I just wanted to take time to reflect on such a turning point in my life. I hope the rest of our days together are just as lovely as the first three years.
