Happy Birthday Joshua

April 13, 2015

On Saturday Joshua turned 24. Not a hugely eventful age, but another year to celebrate life none the less. Typically we don't go crazy in terms of gifts, but after a wonderful start to the year I figured it was about time to make this birthday more memorable than the rest.

 my wrapping job though....

No matter what he always seems to get me the best gifts. Whether it's a holiday or a just because gift, they're always meaningful. I however, am not a great gift giver. I've never been really proud of something I gifted to him and I knew it was time to make this birthday a little more special.

ok strange gray bar on the bottom of my photo?
and that's my mama to the right.

I'm sure almost everyone has heard of Grammy award winner Sam Smith. If not, then you're seriously missing out. Joshua and I are huge fans. In fact, the CD (yes I still buy CDs, I like them) hasn't left my car since last July! I'm not sure what it is about that album, but no matter how many times I listen I can't get enough. Imagine my enthusiasm when I found out Sam Smith was coming to Cleveland this year.

Like any sensible gal I found the biggest box I could, filled it with balloons, and wrapped it to the best of my ability. Which meant using two rolls of wrapping paper, but who's counting.

Not to mention Joshua know's my horrid wrapping job anywhere. No really, come holidays, he does all of our gift wrapping.

At the bottom of the box were two envelopes labeled 1 & 2. In the first, a cheesy little love note I wrote using Sam Smith song lyrics (in blue). The second contained the tickets. He was very surprised and I was more than excited with his reaction. It's still a few months away, but definitely something we're looking forward to!

Of course a giant box of balloons wouldn't be complete without a baby in said box. These balloons have been scattered around our apartment all weekend long. Penny has enjoyed kicking and popping them.

Joshua and I had a wonderful weekend together. We couldn't have asked for nicer weather and a better Saturday night out. These little moments mean the world to me. I am so thankful to have him in my life, especially Penny's life. I could rave on and on about how great of a father he is, but there just aren't enough hours in the day. He has both of our hearts on his sleeve and would do just about anything to make us happy. I can't wait to be able to call him husband and to share every birthday together until we're old and gray.

I hope all of you had a fabulous weekend!
