TOTEally NecessaryMarch 19, 2015
Could the title of this post be any cheesier? When it comes to handbags the bigger the better. For me at least. Don't get me wrong, I love my little satchel, but it's functions are limited. Ohio winters require a change of shoes when walking from the parking lot into your office. Not even joking. The snow is passed your ankles and if you're lucky, there's just enough room to maneuver your car into a "gap" of snow pile and dub it a "parking space." See where the change of shoes comes in?
I need a bag to throw my shoes in, to carry my water bottle, makeup bag, wallet, camera, planner, and what ever junk I feel the need to carry that day. If you are one of those ladies that can get away with a clutch, props to you. Even in the Spring, which requires it's own set of carry on's, I need a suitcase.
A few months ago I thrifted a red, reptile print tote that I was pretty satisfied with. By no means did I love it, but with a $10 price tag, I wasn't about to complain. I mean everything fit, but it was pushing it. Every day the cheap handles seemed to stretch a bit more. I knew I needed a new one, but this time was on the hunt for a quality find.
Enter the lovely Amanda, from Meet @ the Barre. Barre instructor by day, fashionista by night. She posted this bag , by Olivia + Joy and I fell head over.... bag? Since I was still browsing at the time, I saved it to my favorites and went on with my day.
A few weeks later, BAM on SALE + a 15% off coupon code for online purchases. Like any sane woman, I emailed Amanda and asked if she still loved hers a month later.
It didn't take much arm twisting before I was doing a happy swivel-chair dance because I managed to snag the last black and camel colored one available online. Original price $98. I paid $46.98 after shipping and taxes.
Not only does this thing feel fabulously made, it's deep, wide, and fits all my crap. The handles dont feel strained in the slightest, which is sort of a big deal since my purse made my passenger seat belt light go off this morning. #handbagproblems. I have a feeling this thing is going to be my go to for months. Thank you for sharing Amanda!
Remember, being "thrifty" doesn't mean you have to stalk your near by consignment or resale shops to land a deal. (Guilty). Being thrifty means not paying full price and walking away with a few extra bucks in your pocket. So if you've scored something on sale, or used a coupon, pat yourself on the back you thrifty goddess!
Happy Birthday to Amber over at Sweet Words, Pretty Pictures!
