Tasty Tuesday: Celebrations in the Outback

January 20, 2015

Twenty-one years ago today, my mom was in the hospital on her birthday after giving birth to her second child,  my sister. It's a wonder they didn't end up sharing their day. To celebrate, 9 of us went to dinner at Outback Steakhouse last night.

Honestly, it's been ages since I've been to Outback Steakhouse. I'm not a steak person so we tend to shy away from places like that. However I have to say I was more than impressed with our meal, and going back is definitely in our future.

No trip to Outback Steakhouse can be complete without a Bloomin' Onion. My dad ordered cheese fries and everyone pretty much shared.

As I mentioned before, I'm not really a meat person. Hamburg is pretty much it and even that upsets my stomach. Oh the perks of aging. Instead, I opted for the Blackened Fish tacos with lime ailoi with a side of steamed broccoli for Penny.

Great Grandpa Monte (Mom's dad)

.........

We were that family. You know, the ones laughing, having a good old time, making the restaurant so much louder than it needed to be. Luckily it was Monday so the atmosphere desperately needed us. As a joke, one of the gifts we got my sister was a selfie stick. Imagine how much fun we had with that. Even if she never uses it again, we got a few laughs.

This is just a very small group of the huge family Joshua, Penelope, and I share. We are so incredibly blessed beyond words. Not a day goes by that I'm not thankful for each and every one of them. Remember to hold your loved ones close.

Happy Birthday Mom! Thank you for transforming me into the best version of myself.

    1. Thanks. haha Yesterday was my sister's 21st birthday and today is my mom's birthday. It's quite the family affair. Oh my, you haven't seen the elusive self stick?? They are quite possibly the most embarrassing cell phone accessory one could own. We're talking it by passes the blue tooth by thousands. Basically you snap your phone to a little contraption and it's connected to an extendable arm. I've seen some as long at 3 ft. It's purpose is to "take a better selfie." Say you have a group of like ten friends and want to take a selfie and no one's arm is long enough. It's one of those dumb contraptions you don't need and people will look at you like you are an idiot. BUT we had a good giggle out of it. My sister is kind of known as "the selfie queen," so it was fitting. (:

    1. I'm one of those people who are spoiled by great atmosphere. The old style Outbacks are just "eh." This one was so pretty. The patio looks amazing we will have to go this summer. Plus our food was great! Way better quality than what I remember years ago.
