Mommy Monday: Sisterly

January 19, 2015

Today is my sister's 21st birthday. Did I just type that? I mean, she's still my baby sister right? As bitter as she will be once she sees these throwback photos of the good ole days, I think she'll understand my need to reflect.

 I've never been that sibling that was embarrassed by my sister. I was a Senior when she was a Freshman. I'd always say hi to her at school. Hugs were frequently exchanged, and she even hung out with my friends and I on occasion.

Perhaps our close knit relationship sprouted because we shared a room? A situation we forced ourselves into after begging my parents to have another baby. Love you Bill.
Of course we fought, of course there where days we "hated" each other. That's the funny thing about unconditional love. Even if you smack your sister in the face with a magazine and scar her eyebrow for life, (that happened) she'll love you the next day.

We couldn't be more different. Even as we grew, even as we developed our own personal styles, we remained polar opposites.

My relationship with my sister is one I take very seriously. We talk every single day. Sometimes "talking" consists of Snapchats, but hey, that's life right? Even with our busy lives we find time for each other.

I couldn't be more proud of the woman she's become. These past two years have been rough for her. I've watched her suffer many heart breaks, a career change, and even endure some cruel people she thought were her friends. No matter what I'll always have her back, she will always be one of the most important people in my life. She is the best sister I could as for, and an even better Aunt to Penelope.

Do you have a sibling that you share a close bond with?
How to you keep family a priority?

Mommy Monday isn't reserved for mommy-only posts. I take this day of the week to express myself. Whether it be my feelings, what we did over the weekend, or just to share some photos with you guys. I have the most wonderful people reach out to me on a daily basis. Your kind words, stories and encouragement mean more than I can express.
As I wrap today's post I thought I'd share the love that's given to me. Stephanie, of Stephanie Eva here on Blogger, is taking this week to share her favorite beauty products. Each day she will be featuring her favorite products via her blog and instagram . The best part, you can participate in this beauty week by sharing your personal favorites on your Instagram. Just use #stephanieblogsbeautyweek and join the party!

Have a Happy Monday and drink lots of coffee!

  4. I definitely teared up reading this! Such a sweet post and regardless of what hard times she's going through she's luck to have a sister like you who has her back. I went through a tough few months before my 21st as well and wish I had someone as great as you having my back, but the best is yet to come for her! Happy Birthday to your sister!

  13. I loved this, Kiki! You and your sister look like you share a special bond, and that is great! I am an only child so I do not have a way of relating to a magazine-eyebrow-scar (SCARY?! haha) but it's good to know you'll always have that love with your sister!
    And I have to say how thankful for all the support you show my little blogging habits! That is so nice to share my hashtag over here!! THANK YOU. SO. MUCH!

    Hope you had a wonderful Monday and drank "lots of coffee".. I know I did!!
    Much LOVE!!!

    1. You are so welcome Stephanie! I love sharing with others what I find interesting and exciting. Which is a great way to describe your blog. Secretly she hates me for the eye brow scar thing, because hair wont grow over it and she has a bald spot, but it's funny none the less. Plus I was like 4 at the time. (;
