Fashion Friday: Blue Roses + Sweater Tights

January 16, 2015

I'm not really a dark-color loving gal. When I wear a black or grey I tend to pair it with something a bit more lively. Nothing against those who rock the all black look, trust me, a part of me envies you. I just dont find it fitting for my personal style. Rather than looking chic I end up looking like I just walked out of Hot Topic. Perhaps it's my uber paleness? My red hair? Whatever the case, I tend to gravitate toward color.

Then there was this dress. A cute, cotton dress I picked up at Target before the holidays. My favorite color is blue, and I was drawn to the rose pattern. As is, I think this dress is lovely. Too lovely to just waste away in my closet during this frigid temperature spell we're experiencing. I knew adding bright colors to this would make me look more Rainbow Bright, than classy working girl. So I embraced those dark neutrals I'm scared of, and went with something more subtle.
To my surprise I didn't look like a Marilyn Manson groupie.

Oh hat hair.

Dresses are the best for a gal who's on the go. You can't beat a slip over your head and go option. Am I right? If you love dresses but hate the cold, try sweater tights. I purchased mine at Target for about $8, but loads of places carry them.

Ready for the crazy Ohio cold!

Dress: Target. Tights: Target. Cardigan: Forever 21. Wedge Boots: Kohls.
Coat: Hydraulic. Hat: Target. Scarf: Forever 21. Bag: Betsey Johnson
Bangles: Target. Earrings: Target.
Nails: Butter London: Blagger

Wow, like Target much? ^

In baby updates, she's been waving bye for a few weeks now. It's so adorable, I'll really have to get a video up on Instagram. She can say Momma, Dada, Yaya (what we call my Grandma) and Nana (her grandma, Josh's Stepmom). The formula weaning process has begun. I never wanted to use formula in the first place, but my body had it's own plans. She's been working her way up an ounce at a time with whole milk. I cannot wait to be rid of bottles, but I feel like that's going to be quite the process. Moms, if you have any bottle weaning tips, I'm all ears!

Pre-bow and shoes.

Top: Jumping Bean (Kohls). Jeans: Circo (Target). Socks: The Children's Place
Bow: Target. Shoes: PayLess

She received this shirt for Christmas along with a pair of black ruffle-butt pants. ha, ruffle-butt, seriously no other way to describe them. Top-wise she's pretty exclusively in 12 M, but her bottom half is in between 9-12 M.

This photo pretty much sums up our mornings together. Did I make you yawn?

  8. Definitely not a Marilyn Manson groupie (haha)! I love the way you styled the blues with the black and grays...it's perfect for a chilly day! And the red coat was a perfect addition. I'm a definite lover of an all black look, but I totally get you because I'm super envious of the girls who can pull off bright colors...I try, but like you said it just doesn't feel like me. Hope you have a great weekend Kiki! Thanks for linking up, btw :)

    1. These were actually thrifted from a resale. They are Sonoma brand. So I have no idea how old they are. I'm seen a ton on Amazon for great prices though. I'll keep an eye out for you! (:

    1. And I'm totally jealous of you. (; I honestly think it's because I'm so pale. It just doesn't look right. Colors are great to add some pop to an outfit. (:

  15. Your daughter is the cutest!! Even though I have 3 kids, getting rid of the bottle was a struggle - more for me than them!!! I didn't want to lose the "baby" side of them, but then again having no bottles in the house is lovely:) I always let my kids go to the store and point at the sippy cup THEY liked best, made a big deal it's their big kid cup, and then put the formula/milk in it for their first morning drink (that's usually when mine were the most thirsty and would drink out of anything!) . Good luck!!

    1. We are using the sippy. Which has worked great so far. Actually she only had two bottles all day. The rest was whole food and milk. I totally understand the "baby" side. I felt that go so much these past few months. It's sad but I get so excited thinking of our future. (: Thanks for the encouragement/ advice!

    1. I do have a pair of those! I think I snagged them at Forever 21 back in the fall. I love them, but I'm more of a textured tights/ leggings type of person. If you know where I can get some of those share! haha. Nice to meet another Ohio blogger! (:
