Thrifty Thursday: Flea Market FindsOctober 30, 2014
We've had such a fantastic week weather wise. It's been 60-70's, sunny, and beautiful. Last Saturday we took a little drive up to Hartville, Ohio. It's less than a half hour away and well worth the drive if antiques and odd nick knacks are your thing.
I love the Hartville/ Green area. It's cozy, quiet, and full of history. The older homes and historic buildings just give me the warm fuzzies.
We went just to go. There was no intention of making a purchase other than we wanted to enjoy each other and the fabulous and rare October weather. But put this girl around a bunch of antiques and handmade goods and you can bet your bottom dollar I wont leave empty handed.
I saw these little figurines scatter among a table full of junk. Yes, there is a different between an antique and flat out junk. The tables full of beanie babies and "antique paintings" by artists you've never heard of begin to become over whelming and can distract you from the real treasures flea markets have to offer.
Joshua walked over and picked up the elephant, $3. I was totally willing to spend $3 on it. Our bathroom is done in an "African" theme and wooden pieces just give it an authentic African feel. Next to the wooden elephant was a matching giraffe, also $3, also perfect. The gentleman manning the table noticed us lurking and offered to sell them at $1 a piece! Needless to say I left with both for less than half of their marked price.
